Mr. McElderry, who impressed me very favourably,

would much like to work in the C.0. He has how-

ever been suffering recently from malaria and

would like 3 months' holiday to pick up strength.

If however that would lose him the chance of

coming to work here he might prefer to forgo his

holiday. I think he might be asked though not

urged to come.
